Kate Winslet and Jane Fonda step out in fancy power suits to L’Oreal’s Lights on Women Award event during the Cannes Film Festival 2023 on Friday (May 26) in Cannes, France.
The two award-winning actresses attended the event along with many other stars, including Eva Longoria, Leïla Bekhti, Fatoumata Guinea Kaba, Renata Notni, Anushka Sharma, Taís Araújo and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau with his wife, Nukaka Coster-Waldau.
The short film jury, Charlotte Le Bon, Ana Lily Amirpour, Ildikó Enyedi, Shlomi Elkabetz and Karidja Touré, also walked the event’s black carpet.
Created in 2021, the Lights on Women award “attempts to create a path for women in film to advance their careers while also addressing the underrepresentation of women in the industry.”
Presenting the award, Kate shared in a statement that at “every festival, a new generation of female directors reminds us of the power and importance of female storytelling. I am delighted to return to the Cannes Film Festival with L’Oréal Paris to support women filmmakers.”
She added: “It is a privilege to be a part of something that was created specifically to support and nurture women in film, and to be able to showcase their skills and celebrate their unique work. I am very excited to see how their stories play out in this year’s short film selection at Cannes.”
Earlier in the day, Eva was spotted wearing a stunning sheer gown for the latest Cannes premiere.
