It’s all because there are no writers or celebrities involved in Karamo’s show.
“A lot of people have asked me: ‘Why is your talk show [still filming]?’ It’s because we don’t work with celebrities and I don’t have writers on my show,” he told TheWrap. “Programs like mine are not part of that union because, I repeat, there are no celebrities, no writers and it’s just me. [and] whatever comes to mind, and then we can continue.”
For his show, Karamo brings in everyday people as his guests, and the next season will debut next week.
“[I’m] still here calling [and] supporting,” he added. “It amazes me that in 2023 and beyond we’re still talking about conversations about equity and equality, where we see someone getting paid enormously and someone else can’t even afford certain things.”
He also talked about how grateful he is to be able to continue filming his show, since many others don’t.
“I’m glad I can have this position where, because there are no writers and I’m the person who comes up with this and we help real people, I can work, but I’m also there in solidarity with everyone else.”
Over the past week, there have been a few other shows and hosts who have attempted to film their own talk shows, angering both unions and fans at the same time.
