Kamal Khan was born in 1960 (age 61 years; as in 2021) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He did a master’s degree in English Literature and later, he did a course in Russian Philology (Russian Language and Literature) from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia.

Initially, he started his career as a Russian interpreter at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru. He then joined Amrit Prabhat, a local news channel, as a reporter. Later, after the closure of Amrit Prabhat, he joined Navbharat Times as a reporter. After leaving the job from there, he joined Dainik Jagran. In 1995, he started working as a reporter in NDTV news channel from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He was then promoted as local editor for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the same news channel. He was famous for his unique style of reporting.

Death
He died of a heart attack on 14 January 2022 at his residence in Butler Colony, Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh. Various Indian politicians and news reporters shared their grief over his death. NDTV’s Alok Pandey tweeted,

NDTV’s Kamal Khan passes away.. NDTV’s veteran journalist Kamal Khan is no more. He died this morning due to a heart attack at his Butler Palace residence in Lucknow. He was associated with the NDA as UP chief for more than two decades. He is a TV journalist, before this he had worked in all the English and Hindi newspapers of Lucknow. Kamal Khan Sahab’s wife Ruchi Kumar is the political editor of India TV. Kamal Khan, who is loved by the country and the world, has really made his mark with amazing journalism. Hardly any TV journalist has the sweetness of tongue, choice of words, pronunciation and attractive script like him. If Ravish Kumar as an anchor is the diamond of NDTV, then as a journalist Kamal was the gem of this channel. Seeing his PTC (Peace to Camera) in any news package, the eyes of the TV viewers were fixed on the TV screen.
