Former Foreign Secretary Julie Bishop is rumored to have split with her long-term lover David Panton. The latter revealed their split in a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald. Panton stated:
“For the foreseeable future I will be concentrating on life in Manly and Melbourne.” I wish Julie continued success in her remarkable profession.”
Bishop and Panton split after the former informed The Daily Telegraph in 2020 that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, they could not see each other in person and had to depend on online communication:
“We FaceTime. It’s not ideal but it’s all you can do because he can’t get into it (WA) and I can’t go there without exception. It is quite difficult, but I am aware that many families are divided in this way. It’s really hard.”

According to reports, David Panton and Julie Bishop started dating in 2014 and have been together for eight years. The pair were snapped at a dinner hosted by Prince Charles at St James’s Palace in London just a week before the split.

David Panton is a well-known construction entrepreneur and director of Pantonic Health, a company that has made significant contributions to the provision of rapid antigen testing for COVID. His daughters Laura and Sally currently oversee the charity. Panton previously managed a vineyard with his ex-wife and then concentrated on a pharmaceutical company before developing a company in the property development sector. The entrepreneur, who was born in Melbourne, moved to the Harbor City in 2014.
That same year, he went public with his relationship with Julie Bishop when the two were seen together at the 2014 Melbourne Cup. Panton made headlines the following year after accompanying Bishop to New York for her position at UN headquarters.
