Judy Malinowski Wiki, Wikipedia, Video, Documentary, Obituary, Testimony, Boyfriend – Judy Malinowski talking to camera from her hospital bed has no hair, skin, ears or fingers due to burns covering more than 90 % body. He also has a deformed right arm. The description of the young mother’s appearance as “fragile” is inaccurate. It’s amazing she’s still alive.

Judy’s voice was stern, hiding an incredible tenacity and will in a body that was on the verge of giving up. The fire victim spoke directly to her attorney, and then to the defense attorney for Michael Slager, her lover who tried to kill her.

The man she loved burned her alive.

Judy will die a few months after giving her testimony. Because of those taped conversations, Ohio’s legal system underwent a historic change that allowed a murder victim to testify in his or her own case. Judy spoke to the jury and assessed directly from her grave, and that’s exactly what she did. Slager received a life sentence without parole.

Judy’s posthumous testimony didn’t just change the course of history. Her efforts and story helped pass a state law that increased the sentence for those convicted of assaulting and mutilating victims with stimulants like gasoline to six years in prison.

A week after Judy’s funeral, lawmakers passed Judy’s bill without objection, and the governor signed it as Judy’s two daughters stood by him.

The Independent reports that director Patricia Gillespie first learned about the incident through an article that didn’t even make the front page. “This woman sets American legal precedent,” Gillespie said. It’s a crazy story. This woman should be known to everyone.

Judy Malinowski later testified in her own murder trial.

Judy grew up in suburban Ohio, where she adored her older sister and brother, had a carefree childhood, even won beauty contests and was named homecoming queen. But when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age and beat it once, her ideal life was turned upside down. She discovered that the disease returned in 2006.

Judy underwent a thorough hysterectomy, but while recovering, with a drug epidemic sweeping the country, she developed an addiction to opium. When Judy’s insurance ran out and she couldn’t get her prescriptions anymore, she started buying heroin on the street. In the documentary that uses footage shot by family members and detectives, Judy herself admits this.

Family members take care of Judy’s two young daughters as she battles addiction and tries to get her life back on track. Until she started dating Michael Slager, she seemed to be doing just fine.

According to the documentary, Slager contacted Judy through social media and since their first date, the two have been inseparable. Unbeknownst to her family, Slager, who has a tattoo on her neck, has a long criminal history including theft, stalking, child endangerment and domestic violence.

While dating Slager, Judy relapses. According to the movie, even though he didn’t use drugs on his own, he would still buy her drugs. She becomes dependent on him and under his control due to the cycle of destruction he creates. The two fought frequently, and in 2015, while Judy was returning to treatment, one of those fights resulted in her death.

On August 2 of the same year, during a confrontation outside a gas station, Judy threw a soda can at Slager; he retaliated by dousing her with gasoline. A surveillance camera at a nearby ATM captured Slager returning to his black pickup and returning 30 seconds later with a lighter.

Then, as Slager watched, Judy’s entire body was engulfed in flames.

Authorities were notified by a panic 911 call. Slager started trying to downplay the attack as an accident. Judy was taken to the hospital, where the doctors didn’t think she would make it.

Detectives are investigating what really happened outside that gas station while Judy is fighting for her life. Along with eyewitness testimony, it was security footage of the ATM that broke Slager’s story almost immediately. In the film, lead detective Chad Cohagen notes, “It looked like a scene from a movie,” adding that the video “clearly shows that they were arguing and then Michael sprayed her with gas.” So we immediately realized that Michael lied to us about his story. I cannot count the many times that scene has appeared in my dreams.
