Joyce Randolph, the actress who played Trixie Norton in The newlyweds has died. She was 99 years old.
His son Randy Charles told him TMZ that Randolph passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in New York City. He had been dealing with age-related health problems and could no longer walk. Doctors had prepared her family and she was under palliative care when she died.
Randolph played the wife of Ed Norton (Art Carney) in the classic 1950s television series, which also starred Jackie Gleason and Audrey Meadows. She was the last living member of the cast.
While The newlyweds was the number 2 show when it started, falling to 19 by the end of the first season. Due to its production cost, CBS opposed a second season. Thus it ended with only 39 episodes. However, the series is still considered one of the best comedies in the history of television.

Randolph’s family will hold a private memorial service in the coming weeks. Charles asks that fans donate to the Entertainment Community Fund in honor of his mother. During her lifetime, her husband was a member of the charity’s board of directors.
