John Stamos Reveals What Happened After Catching His Ex-Girlfriend Teri Copley In Bed With Tony Danza

According to Copley, she and Stamos were already separated when the incident occurred.

In John Stamos’ new memoir, If you had told me, claims he walked in on his ex-girlfriend Teri Copley in bed with Tony Danza. Stamos and Copley dated in the 1980s.

“I can’t explain it, but I would have preferred if they punched me in the nose again or something because the pain is so overwhelming,” Stamos explained. “Looking back, it’s like she probably wasn’t the right girl for me. So seeing him, realizing it was him and stuff, it was hard. I mean, it was horrible.”

The night of the incident, Stamos says he entered Copley’s guest house and found the model in bed with a man he did not recognize.

“At first I thought: ‘I’m going to kick him…’ I didn’t know what it was. [Danza] still. I see her abs. I say, ‘Maybe not.’ Fit.’ And I ran,” Stamos recalls. “But I remember running down the driveway with tears streaming down my face and I didn’t want anyone to see me.”

Copley, 62, claims her relationship with the actor had already ended at the time of his affair with Danza.

The actress said People, “I was wondering, ‘What was John doing there?’ because we had broken up. “He just looked at me, shook his head and walked away.”

According to Stamos, he learned that Danza was in his ex-girlfriend’s bed after seeing a Copley sign that she had signed, “My Dear Tony,” on the front seat of an unknown car outside her home.

“I get into the El Co, I start the car, and Elton John keeps singing, and that’s when it hits me,” Stamos writes in his memoir, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I pronounce the lyrics of his most famous lyrics and realize my rival’s name: ‘Hold me closer, Tony Danza.’ . . .’”

Teri Copley isn’t the only ex-lover Stamos talks about in his memoir. Stamos also spoke about the heartbreak he experienced in his first marriage to Rebecca Romijn.

During an interview with People, The actor explained: “My first marriage was devastating for me. I too was devastated for too long. I mean, one year, okay, okay. But it continued [for] years and years”.

Stamos further noted that at the time of his separation from Romijn, he thought “she was the devil” and “he just hated her.”

“It was very public and very painful,” Stamos said. “I didn’t write much about it, but it’s difficult. It was largely believed that she left me because her career was going very well and mine was not, and that is humiliating. “I don’t blame her for that.”
