Career and professional life
Joey Gallo was selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round, with the 39th overall pick, in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. So instead of enrolling at LSU, he signed with the Rangers for a $2.25 million signing bonus.
Gallo began his professional career with the Arizona League Rangers. He set a record with 18 home runs and was named Arizona League MVP. He was then able to continue his success with the Spokane Indians in the Class A short-season Northwest League.
