What is the J Dey murder case and who is Jigna Vora?
A former journalist named Jigna Vora covered crimes in Mumbai. Jigna became known as a suspect in a murder plot in 2011, when senior Mid-Day reporter J Dey was shot dead by unidentified gunmen. Jigna, who was working for the Asian Age at the time, was accused of conspiring to kill Dey along with Chhota Rajan. She’s in trouble because she recently did an interview with a criminal of the underworld.
According to authorities, she allegedly provided Rajan with information about Dey’s movements, which he activated to kill the journalist. Jigna was detained and jailed for six years while the trial was ongoing. She was acquitted of all charges in 2017. She wrote Behind bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison after her release, which inspired the online series Scoop.
What does Scoop include?
Scoop, a semi-fictional account of the murder of Dey and the arrest of Jigna, written and directed by Hansal Mehta. The name Chhota Rajan is used exactly as in the show trailer, but the names of most of the characters and the magazines they work for have been changed.
