Jerwin made his professional debut in July 2009. Thus, he won his first major title; WBO Asia Pacific Junior Bantamweight title against Rex Tito scheduled at SM City Lipa. He suffered a loss in his 15th professional fight, losing by majority decision to Mark Anthony Geraldo.

On September 3, 2016, he became IBF junior bantamweight champion when he defeated McJoe Arroyo. Jerwin made his first defense on January 29, 2017, defeating José Alfredo Rodríguez by technical knockout.

He defeated Jamie Conlan with around 6 TKOs on November 18, 2017.

In December it was announced that this boxer had signed with Top Rank and would debut in the United States in February 2018. And finally, on February 3, 2018, he would successfully defend his IBF belt in his United States debut.
