Jeremiah Green, the founder of rock band Modest Mouse, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Carol Namatame, the drummer’s mother, revealed her son’s condition in a recent Facebook post. However, it is not clear from the text what disease the artist is suffering from.
Namatama wrote in the post:
“Please send healing energy to my son, Jeremiah Green, who is battling stage 4 cancer. He is so strong and brave, and he endured!”
I just found out from my friend Jeremiah Green (@modestmouseband) withdrew from the band’s tour because he was undergoing chemotherapy to battle stage 4 cancer.
Despite being diagnosed at stage 4, his prognosis is very good! His oncologist is a huge fan of MM (so he has that in his corner!) To ❤️❤️!! pic.twitter.com/4oGorzezrd

Additionally, popular Seattle radio DJ Marco Collins revealed Green’s diagnosis and announced that Mouse will no longer be touring. In a Facebook post, he said:
“I just heard that my friend Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse) has withdrawn from the band’s tour because he is currently undergoing chemotherapy to beat stage 4 cancer. Despite being diagnosed at stage 4, His prognosis is very favorable! His oncologist is also a huge fan of MM (so he loves it!) Sending him nothing but love and healing energy! Get well soon, my friend. “Everyone is cheering for you!”
Jeremiah Green and singer Isaac Brock co-founded Modest Mouse.
Jeremiah Green, along with singer Isaac Brock and bassist Eric Judy, were founding members of Modest Mouse in 1993. Suffering from mental problems, the artist briefly left the band in 2003. On the recommendation of his bandmate and leader, Isaac Brock, he was taken to a mental hospital for six hours at the time. Green spoke to NME last year about the release of their album The Golden Casket. The artist, who also had a difficult upbringing, told the publication:
“What really saved me was that Isaac took care of me…Isaac was one of the few people who knew about my plight.”
With the exception of Modest Mouse’s second album, Good News For People Who Like Bad News, which was recorded during his absence in 2003 and sold 1.5 million copies in the US, Jeremiah Green has appeared on every album. next. The drummer is married to Lauren Green, with whom she has a son, Wilder, born in 2016.
Jeremiah Green will not be appearing on Modesto Mouse’s current tour.
The band announced their 2022 tour earlier this year, which they just wrapped up. The tour marks the 25th anniversary of the band’s legendary album, The Lonesome Crowded West. Green toured for some of the first concerts, but had to cancel due to illness. Next year, the band will appear at several events, including Lollapalooza and the Estereo Picnic Festival.
