Jenny McCarthy remembers rubbing shoulders with ‘disgusting celebrities’ at the Playboy Mansion

Hugh Hefner and the famous Playboy Mansion have become a pop culture staple. Some of the biggest celebrities have graced the halls of the California estate. Actress Jenny McCarthy recently recalled being a guest at the mansion while Hefner was still married.

“I was there when his children threw bacon at me in high chairs. It was perfect timing,” she said.

“There was that TV special about the big Playboy scandal, they asked me to be a part of it constantly. I say, ‘Listen, I didn’t have that experience.’ Pamela [Anderson] I didn’t have that experience.’ “I think we were in a different moment.”

The Playboy empire built its brand on sex. Her famous magazines, which featured naked models, flew off the shelves upon their release. McCarthy said much of the lewd behavior promoted in the magazine was also displayed at the mansion. And many times celebrities participated.

“There was still a lot of sex with rude celebrities in the grotto areas and things like that,” he said.

“Unfortunately, for every 20 boys, there was 1 girl. So the boys were in heaven. But also the boys were over 70 years old,” she recalled. “Oh God, they were very, very old. “It was like Viagra headquarters.”

The famous actress did not end there. She also joked that “someday” “maybe she would tell the funny stories about it all,” recalling memories of other attendees “looking for Hef in the middle of the night while he was married.”

The actress remembers auditioning for Playmate

Much of Playboy’s success is attributed to its exclusivity. People would have to go through obstacles to access the farm.

But even more exclusive was the Playmate title. The playmates are the women invited to appear in the magazine and often even live in the mansion. McCarthy revealed what her experience was like auditioning to become a playmate.

“I said, ‘How do people become playmates?’ They say: ‘They don’t come in. You have to send a photo.’ And I said, ‘Okay, bye.’ I was waiting for the elevator and the editor walked by and said, ‘We have a photo shoot going on, do you want to wear a bikini?’” he said.

“And I said, ‘Okay’ (this is a true story) and I was like, ‘I didn’t shave.’ This is bad.’ Because I didn’t think: I was just going to get information. So I went and I put on my swimsuit and I went to the photographer and they literally said, “Pose.” I liked a mug shot.

Then I took the bus home. When I got home, there was a voicemail on my answering machine saying, ‘We want to try you out for Miss October.'”
