On Instagram, Jennifer wrote: “Oh wow, this has hurt me deeply… Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been a crazy wave of emotions that I have never experienced before. We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really SIT in this pain allows you to feel moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone so deeply. And we loved him deeply. He was a big part of our DNA. “There were always the 6 of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path would be.”

She continued: “Matty knew he loved making people laugh. As he himself said, if he didn’t hear the ‘laughter’ he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy did he manage to do just that. He made us all laugh. And laugh a lot. For the past two weeks, I’ve been reading our text messages. Laugh and cry and then laugh again. I will keep them forever and ever. One day I found a text message he sent me out of the blue. Says it all”. Jennifer then included the text, which can be read here.

One text exchange Jennifer shared included a photo Matthew sent her from their childhood. Friends days, which said: “Making you laugh made my day. She made my day :),” to which Jennifer responded, “Awww… the first of THOUSANDS of times.”

She continued in her tribute: “Matty, I love you so much and I know you are completely at peace now and without any pain. I talk to you every day…sometimes I can almost hear you say ‘could you BE crazier?’”

He ended his note with: “Rest little brother. You always made my day…”

Our continued thoughts are with Matthew’s loved ones during this time. RIP.
