Former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy opened up about her decision to undergo the egg freezing process and revealed that despite not wanting to have children right now, she is taking proactive steps to keep her options open for the future.
In the latest episode of his podcast, strong feelingsMcCurdy, 31, candidly shared her current stance on motherhood, stating unequivocally: “I don’t feel in any way that I want to have children. “I can’t imagine a world where I would one day want to have children.” However, the actress recognizes that people change and she is open to the possibility that her mentality evolves.
McCurdy expressed her fear of reaching age 40 and realizing she wants to have children but doesn’t have the biological means to do so. The actress shared details about her recent “doctor’s week,” where she underwent several health checkups, including a mammogram, ultrasound, Pap smear, and genetic testing. Because of her family history (her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer at age 36), McCurdy has been receiving preventive mammograms since she was 25.
During this week, McCurdy also scheduled an egg freezing consultation, leading to the decision to explore the process further. He emphasized the complexity of his decision, stating, “I’m trying to weigh these options and it’s quite complex.”
