Jeffrey Dean Morgan Explains The ‘Problem’ He Had With Negan’s Ending In ‘Walking Dead’

Jeffrey Dean Morgan talks about the end of The Walking Dead and why he had “issues” with the way his character Negan’s story was wrapped up.

The 57-year-old actor joined the cast of the AMC series in season six as Negan and remained on the show through the eleventh and final season.

Jeffrey showed up at Kelly Ripa’s house let’s talk off camera podcast for SiriusXM this week and was asked, “If you could pick one ending for Negan, what would it be?”

“That he would just walk off into the sunset. You know, I don’t know if she would have remarried and Negan married at the end of the walking Dead,” he said.

Jeffrey continued: “We never saw the story of how he met this person and why he would have married her, which always bummed me out because I think he was very much in love with his wife Lucille and had made such a big production out of it all.” Lucille of everything. “Having him show up with a wife without telling the story of why and how was always a problem, a problem I had. But, you know, that’s what happens when you’re doing a show with 30 main characters. You can’t cater to each character as well as you wanted. And I think now with Dead City we’ll get some answers.”
