Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III is an American politician and lawyer. From 2017 to 2018, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III served as the 84th Attorney General of the United States.

Career
Professionally, Jeff is a politician and lawyer. From 2017 to 2018, he served as the 84th Attorney General of the United States. Previously, from 1997 to 2017, he served as a United States Senator from Alabama. So, he went before resigning from that position to serve in President Donald Trump’s administration.
Similarly, from 1981 to 1993, Jeff served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama. In 1994, Jeff was elected Attorney General of Alabama. Similarly, in 1996, Jeff was elected to the United States Senate and re-elected in 2002, 2008, and 2014.
Jeff was considered one of the most conservative senators during his tenure in the Senate. Jeff was an early supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016. Therefore, he earned nominations from Trump for the position of Attorney General of the United States. In February 2017, Jeff was confirmed and sworn in as Attorney General.
Additionally, in his confirmation hearings, Jeff stated under oath that he had no contact with Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign. And also that Jeff was not aware of any contact between members of the Trump campaign and Russian officials.

In March 2017, news reports revealed that in 2016, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III had met twice with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Jeff subsequently recused himself from any investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election. Additionally, as Attorney General, Jeff rescinded a memo issued by one of his predecessors, Eric Holder.
Therefore, he ordered federal prosecutors to begin seeking the maximum criminal charges possible. Additionally, Jeff played a key role in implementing the Trump administration’s family separation policy. Additionally, Trump issued an executive order revoking funding to cities. But unfortunately, that order was overturned by a federal court.
Jeff also supported the Department of Justice’s prosecutions of medical marijuana providers. Similarly, on November 7, 2018, Jeff offered to resign at Trump’s request following months of public and private conflict with President Trump over his recusal from investigations related to Russian election interference.
Therefore, Jeff ran in the 2020 Senate election in Alabama to regain his old seat. However, he lost in the Republican primary to Tommy Tuberville.
Personal life
Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III married his wife Mary Blackshear in the year 1969. Together they have three children named Ruth, Mary Abigail and Sam. And, as of March 2020, they have ten grandchildren. Additionally, he and his family attend a United Methodist church. Jeff and his wife are members of Ashland Place United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama. Additionally, Jeff has taught Sunday school there.
