She came into limelight when she addressed the media on behalf of the Indian Railways after the tragic Balasore accident and explained about the complex signaling system of the Railways. Jaya Verma Sinha, also known as Jaya Verma Sinha, was born on Wednesday, 18 September 1963 (age 60 years; as in 2023) in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh (now Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh). Her zodiac sign is Virgo. His ancestral house is located in Baghambari Housing Scheme in Allapur. She did her schooling from 1978 to 1982 at St. Mary’s Convent Inter College, Allahabad. Jaya Verma Sinha joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1988. In 1990, she was posted as Assistant Area Manager of Kanpur zone in Northern Railway. She served in this post for about a year and then got promoted to the post of Divisional Commercial Manager, Allahabad Division in Northern Railway. After working there for about two years, he started working as Senior Transportation Manager at the Center for Railway Electrification (CORE) in Ranchi, Jharkhand. In 1995, Jaya was appointed as Divisional Operations Manager of Allahabad Division in Northern Railway. He worked there for about a year.
From 1996 to 2000, Jaya worked as Senior Divisional Operations Manager of Delhi Division in Northern Railway. In 2000, he started working as Deputy Chief Project Manager of Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) in Northern Railway. He served in this position for 5 years and in 2007, he was appointed as Railway Advisor to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh. During her four-year tenure as Railway Advisor, Jaya played a key role in the inauguration of Maitri Express, a train running from Kolkata to Dhaka. In 2011, Jaya was appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer of Northern Railway in New Delhi, where she worked for about a year. Subsequently, Jaya served as Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, Eastern Railway, Kolkata for two years. From 2016 to 2018, Jaya served as the Senior Deputy General Manager of South Eastern Railway at Garden Reach in Kolkata, West Bengal. In March 2018, Jaya was appointed as Principal Chief Operating Manager in South Eastern Railway, becoming the first woman to hold the post. He then took over as Principal Chief Commercial Manager in Northern Railway in June 2020 and served there till January 2023.
In August 2021, he was inducted into the Ministry of Railways, where he worked as Advisor Traffic and Additional Member Traffic. During her tenure, she was responsible for the overall transportation of freight and passenger services on Indian Railways, and reportedly, Indian Railways recorded an all-time high growth of over 20 percent in the freight segment and crossed the 1.5 billion tonne mark.
