Jay Shah is an Indian engineer and business executive, who is famous for being the son of Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India. Jay Shah holds the post of Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), at the same time, he is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Rishita is the daughter of a Gujarati businessman Gunwant Patel and is said to be Jai’s childhood friend. Jai and Rishita are the parents of two daughters: Rudri (born in 2017) and another born in May 2020.

After completing his formal education, Jai Shah joined his family business of PVC pipelines. Then, in 2004, Jay Shah started his own trading business company named ‘Temple Enterprises Pvt. Ltd.’ Jai Shah and Jitendra Shah, an old family friend, were the two directors of the firm. The company ceased operations in October 2016. Jay Shah holds 60 percent stake in stock trading and marketing consultancy company Kusum Finserv.

In 2015, Junior Shah entered BCCI administration as a member of the board’s finance and marketing committees. In September 2019, he resigned as GCA joint secretary and was elected as BCCI secretary the following month. He was the youngest person ever to hold this position.

He has been representing the BCCI in the CEC meetings of the International Cricket Council since December 2019. In January 2021, Jay Shah was appointed as the President of the Asian Cricket Council. He was the youngest person to achieve the position of ACC President.
Controversy
On 8 October 2017, The Wire, an Indian online news portal, published a story titled ‘The Golden Touch of Jai Amit Shah’, which reportedly reported on Jai Shah’s businesses a year after the BJP came to power at the Centre. Huge revenue growth of Rs. The story published by Rohini Singh, an investigative journalist, made serious corruption allegations against Jay Shah, along with supporting data that showed rapid growth and financial irregularities related to his company. The investigative article reported that in the financial year 2014–15, a company owned by Jai Shah (Temple Enterprise; closed in 2016) recorded a profit of Rs. At a revenue of only Rs 18,728. 50,000 before reaching a whopping turnover of Rs. 80.5 crore in the financial year 2015-16, an increase of 16000 times. Various revelations made in the article sparked a political storm, with the opposition party demanding a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the matter. In response to the story, Jay Shah filed Rs. A Rs 100 crore defamation criminal suit in an Ahmedabad court against seven respondents, including the author of the article and editors of the online news portal. The case was registered under IPC sections 500 (defamation), 109 (incitement), 39 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 120B (criminal conspiracy). The case is still pending in the trial court.
