Early life and childhood
Jared Mecham was born on April 21, 1988 in Spokane, Washington, USA. He is currently 33 years old and his birth sign is Taurus. His parents are Craig Mecham (father) and Tamara Gibbs Mecham (mother). Additionally, he has five siblings, Ryan, Nate, Melanie, Matt, and Melanie.

Ellie initially started the channel ‘Ellie and Jared’ under the name ‘@stylebyellie’ on October 17, 2011. But soon after it was renamed Ellie & Jared to document her struggles with infertility. He uploads vlogs to YouTube, often about his family, and has another shared channel, along with his wife Ellie. His attention has been focused on his struggle to start a family, as Ellie suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Additionally, Jared appears as the University of North Carolina volleyball coach in the sketch “Best Volleyball Blocks Ever with Scott Sterling.” He also competed (and hosted) a “YouTubers vs. Studio C” which was to celebrate Studio C reaching one billion views, along with Mark Rober, among others.
When the couple first started posting on YouTube, they had an irregular schedule and only posted videos a few times a week. They then started making daily videos and posted them Monday through Sunday for over two years. Similarly, they later opted not to post videos on weekends, meaning they would post vlogs every day of the week.

Struggles
They received fertility treatment to conceive their first child, Jackson Clark, who was born on January 9, 2014. When Jackson was nine months old, the couple unexpectedly became pregnant again, this time, without any fertility treatment. The start of the pregnancy was not as expected, but despite this, Ellie gave birth to a second healthy son, Calvin Scott, on May 23, 2015.
The couple became pregnant three times in 2017 but suffered miscarriages. They announced their fourth pregnancy in November 2017. All four pregnancies occurred without fertility treatment. As a result of three previous miscarriages, both Ellie and Jared were nervous throughout the pregnancy, but Ellie gave birth to a healthy son, Tommy Joel, on June 20, 2018.
Break up with YouTube
In a video posted on August 16, 2019, Ellie explained that they would only be posting videos three times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday, and Saturday, because their other schedule was causing a lot of stress for their family.
In a video posted on January 4, 2020, titled Ellie and Jared Say Goodbye, they announced that they would be taking a break from blogging. Initially, the hiatus would last through the month of January, but they said they weren’t sure if they would return, at least not with regular loads. They will continue to be active on social media and continue doing their podcast.
