Career
Jacob Markstrom started his hockey career in the smaller club Brynäs IF. He signed a two-year contract with senior team Brynäs IF on 12 May 2008. During this period, he excelled in the Swedish Hockey League and World Junior competitions, and even represented Sweden at the under-18 level. The following month, he was drafted by the Florida Panthers for the 2008 NHL season. Additionally, he became the Panthers’ youngest goaltender ever.
He also played for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. He injured his knee during his first season in the AHL. Markstrom returned to South Florida after the procedure. He won his first NHL game on October 22, 2011, when he appeared in the third period against the New York Islanders and made 18 saves on 18 shots.
