Take a look at some of the highlights…

On being mommy’s sons:

Colman: “Something like, ‘Where will we be without our mothers’ dreams?’ “I’m a mama’s boy.”

Jacob: “Me too. When you said that, man, I started crying. I take my mom everywhere with me, but at that moment I realized that every performance I do is an extension of the things she wanted for me. How did that push you? Because she is the only reason I do what I do.”

Colman: “My mom was my best friend. She was a dreamer. She was spiritual and charming and she believed in the good of humanity. I was shy, studious, awkward, skinny and not cool in West Philly.”

Colman on losing his mother:

“I lost my mother in 2006. I was devastated and said to my friend, ‘What am I going to do with all this love?’ She said, ‘You’re going to put it in everything you do.'”

Jacob barely crossed paths with Colman in Euphoria:

“It’s amazing that we’ve barely crossed paths, which is also kind of a gift; I can sit and marvel at your work because I’m not there watching you work. I always felt a little intimidated on set whenever I saw you, because you are an expert at your craft. Last night I was at home researching like I was about to play you in a movie or something because I was so nervous. I thought, “I need him to understand that I care about the same things he does.”

Colman on his career:

“My career has lasted about 33 years; I started when I was 21 years old; I am 54 years old and my entire journey has been about being a multi-talented person. I started as an actor, but I was always questioning the work as a writer, as a director and then as a producer. I always felt like the only way to have agency in this industry is to own it and do it myself. I stayed under the radar. “I am going through a moment in my career, but it is a moment that has been built for many years and with many ups and downs.”

Jacob on his performance:

“My whole thing was getting lost in acting. But now I’m taking ‘Jacob Elordi’ to a performance, which is such a heady, mind-blowing thing. I have been in the process of trying to shake him down as he gets older and louder.”

Jacob in Colman Rustin performance:

“Your transformation was everything. Starting with your voice. There aren’t many videos of him speaking, but you did it. You also brought something else that was yours.”

Jacob on playing Elvis:

“I didn’t want to do him the disservice of playing ‘The King’ that the world had created, because that’s what hurt him so much. My job was not to play with his fame, but to present him as a victim of it, to represent him as a man who was suffering.”
