In September 2020, Jen announced that she and her husband Brandon would be getting a divorce.

Jen described the pain as a partial eclipse that one can’t get rid of, even after the initial pain wears off. As Jen concluded, she accepted that he could never be free of pain. She stated:
“I have not achieved a miraculous healing where the old is completely gone and I am here, dazzling, in the new. We just learn to live with the sadness that will never be completely erased, even with a newfound happiness. That’s the job. Hold both, deny neither, let it come when it comes.”
