Hurley Tanmay Gala was born on Tuesday, 19 September 2006 (age 16 years; as in 2022) in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. She was athletic since childhood and played many sports.
Till class 7, he studied at Utpal Shanghvi School, and later he joined St. Columba’s School, Mumbai. Growing up, she was a state and national level skating champion. One day, when she was 11 years old, she twisted her ankle while skating, after which she had to take a year off from the sport. During this break, at the insistence of his father, he tried his hand at cricket. At that time, Gujarati Mid-Day, a Mumbai news daily, had organized a recreational cricket competition for housing societies. The Gala Society also fielded a team and Hurley was part of it. He performed well in those matches. Then his father suggested that he take up cricket as his sport. Tanmay turned to his relative and friend Vishal Karya for advice as he had some cricketing abilities. He decided to hire a personal coach for him. Meanwhile, Hurley started playing with leather balls on a private field owned by Karya. One day his uncle met Ivan Rodrigues, a junior cricket coach, at a sports shop and told him about Hurley. Ivan Rodrigues is the father of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, an all-rounder for the Mumbai women’s cricket team. Subsequently, he began training under Ivan Rodrigues at the Negev Cricket Academy in Juhu, as they used the facilities of a private ground owned by Karya. Initially, she was a batsman, but her coach saw that she had the potential to become a fast bowler. In school, she was making her presence felt in inter-school competitions. His performance in the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) tournament caught the attention of the Mumbai cricket selectors. During the semi-finals of the MSSA tournament, he took a hat-trick with the ball and then scored a crucial score of over 30 in quick time in the final. At the age of 13, she was selected to play for the Mumbai Under-19 women’s team, following her impeccable performance in the late Arjun Madhavi Women’s Trophy in Thane. Later, he honed his skills training under Prashant Shetty at MIG Cricket Club, Bandra. He had fitness and fielding coaches in Venancio D’Souza and Sachin Jagtap. That year, she was selected for the Mumbai Under-19 women’s team. She was selected for the NCA Under-19 (Girls) 2022 camp.

After representing Mumbai U19, he made his way to the senior Mumbai team in domestic cricket. A series of T20 matches were held in Mumbai and the India women’s under-19 team won all of them. She represented India A in the quadrangular Women’s U19 T20 Series 2022, which they won by 77 runs. Subsequently, she was named in India’s squad for the ICC Women’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup. The team included Shafali Verma (captain), Shweta Sehrawat (vice-captain), Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), G Trisha, Saumya Tiwari, Sonia Mendhia, Rishita Basu (wicketkeeper), Sonam Yadav, Mannat Kashyap, Archana. Devi, Parshvi Chopra, Titas Sadhu, Falak Naz, and Shabnam MD. The tournament took place in South Africa in January 2023, with matches played in the T20 format. On 17 January 2023, Hurley Gala was ruled out of the World Cup with an injury to his right thumb. He was replaced by Yashashree Soppadhandhi. On 29 January 2023, India won this tournament by 7 wickets.
