His father’s name was Peter Doohan (ATP Tour coach and tennis expert), and he died in 2017 from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Angie Harper Carmichael, his mother, works as a weight loss consultant at the Metabolic Research Center. John Doohan is his brother (Ozark Tennis Academy).
