Hugh Jackman Shares A Wolverine Thanksgiving Post

Hugh Jackman wishes fans a Happy Thanksgiving with a very fitting Wolverine GIF. Jackman first took on the role of Wolverine back in 2000’s X-Men and would play the character multiple times over years. Jackman seemingly said farewell to the role with 2017’s Logan, which featured his character’s emotional death at the end. Recently, however, it was confirmed that Jackman will be reprising his role once more in order to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, a film that will introduce both heroes into the MCU.

Now, to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend, Hugh Jackman has taken to social media to wish his fans well in a Wolverine-themed post. In addition to a variety of Thanksgiving-appropriate emojis, Jackman includes a Wolverine GIF of the Marvel hero slicing himself off a turkey leg. Check out Jackman’s post below:

Hugh Jackman’s Future As Wolverine

The announcement that Jackman is returning as Wolverine raises some interesting questions. While Reynolds and Jackman have already shared a video confirming that Deadpool 3 won’t affect Wolverine’s ending in Logan, the future of the character is now up in the air. It’s unclear whether Jackman has any plans to reprise the role again after Deadpool 3 or if the film will serve as another send-off, just with a wildly different tone. Deadpool 3 is also an MCU movie, meaning that the film could open up possibilities for Jackman to return once more and interact with other Marvel heroes.

Considering Wolverine died in Logan, which is set in its own unique timeline, it seems unlikely that Deadpool 3 will also kill off the character at the end. What seems like the more probable outcome is that Deadpool 3 will serve as the last time that Jackman’s Wolverine really takes center stage in any movie, with the hero perhaps cropping up in future MCU movies in more of a cameo capacity. With the MCU now fully introducing mutants and teasing the arrival of the X-Men, it’s possible that a younger, more family-friendly Wolverine replacement character will eventually step up to take Jackman’s place as the clawed hero.

Beyond Deadpool 3, it’s possible that Jackman could return in some capacity for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025 or Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026. After all, Fox’s X-Men movies never really allowed Wolverine and the other members of the team to interact with other Marvel superheroes. With the MCU now exploring the multiverse concept in new and exciting ways, it’s certainly possible that Jackman’s Wolverine will get to fight alongside the Avengers in some capacity after his highly-anticipated role in Deadpool 3. For now, however, it seems like Jackman is just interested in enjoying a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend.
