How to Evolve Finizen into Palafin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Finizen the new Dolphin Pokémon found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has a gimmick to evolving it to Palafin. With the incentive to use the new feature of the Union Circle allowing trainers to visit other trainers’ worlds, Finizen’s social approach to evolving brings trainers together. Once evolved, Palafin looks exactly like a Finizen with only a heart on its chest in its Zero Form. In its Hero Form, Palafin’s power increases with a gaudy appearance of a superhero.

The adorable Water-type Pokémon Finizen can be found just about anywhere near the coast of the Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is not rare and its PokéDex habitat entry states that it “lives in the sea”. The special Pokeballs that help trainers catch Water-Type Pokémon, Dive Balls, and Net Balls, are recommended to use as they increase the chance of an attempt to capture it. Once caught in the trainer’s own world or in someone else’s world, raise it to at least level 37.

Evolving Finizen to Palafin in Multiplayer Mode

Local and Online Play in both versions of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games, evolve Finizen to Palafin. After catching a Finizen and raising it to at least level 37, press the X button and select Poké Portal. Choose the Union Circle and either Form a Group to invite people over or Join a Group to go to someone else’s world. Level up Finizen to level 38 or higher if Finizen is over and watch the evolution scene begin. The trainer receives Palafin, a new potential competitive Pokémon, and it learns a new move Flip Turn.

Palafin’s Signature Move and Ability

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Palafin has a unique stat change while battling. According to the Pokémon YouTuber, aDrive who sourced a leak of the Paldean Pokémon stats, Palafin receives a base physical attack stat of 160. However, to get Palafin to its large attack stat, trainers must trigger its ability Zero to Hero.

To trigger its ability, Palafin starts in Zero Form and when switched out it transforms into Hero Form. Its signature move Flip Turn, introduced in Generation 8, gives trainers a quick change in the course of a battle, damaging its opponent while it returns to its Pokéball. On return to its Pokéball from the battle, Palafin is now in its Hero Form looking like a buff superhero. Palafin will be one of the top-ranked Water-Type Pokémon with a new gimmick and hard-hitting stats.
