Hilary Farr announces departure from ‘Love It or List It’ after 19 seasons

Hilary Farr says goodbye to her hit HGTV show.

The home design expert announced on Friday (December 1) that she was leaving her hit show. Love it or list it after 19 seasons.

“I have given him so many years of my life. She has helped me get through tough times,” Hilary shared with People. “It has helped the public get through difficult times. He has become a pillar of people’s lives and it has been incredibly rewarding. But now is the time to move forward and face new challenges.”

Hilary, who has co-hosted the show with real estate agent David Visentin since 2008, said she made the decision to leave almost a year ago when she finished filming the most recent season.

“I realized that everything I am as a woman, which is [that I] looking for challenges, looking for inspiration, looking for new ideas, getting excited about all the possibilities that exist, they really needed to blossom and find their way,” Hilary shared. “I told everyone I was done. I thought everyone had accepted it, but that wasn’t the case.”

When it came time to film what would be the show’s 20th season, “Everyone came back and said, ‘So do I love it or do I include it?'” Hilary admitted that she had to “rethink it again and really examine it, did I want to do it?” ? come back right? With all the love in the world, the answer was no. “It’s just time.”

Hilary also said that when she told David she was leaving, he didn’t believe her.

“He didn’t believe me. He said, ‘Oh, you say that,'” Hilary recalled. “We are who we are [in real life] in that program. Think of your brother as the most unpleasant and annoying, that’s David.”

Hilary went on to say that she will miss “everything” about working with David, recalling how he supported her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014.

“I was working through the whole cancer process and he was always there,” Hilary said. “He also had his little tough moments here and there, and we were there for each other. Yes, that’s a big problem. “I don’t know if that’s going to change.”

At the moment, Hilary doesn’t know if Love It or List It will continue without her, but she says she “wouldn’t be surprised” if the show was looking for a new co-host.

“I wish them all the luck in the world,” Hilary added. “And I would probably tune in and watch it.”
