Hesham Selim, a famous Egyptian actor, died on September 22, 2022 at the age of 64. Selim has been battling cancer for a long time. Ashraf Zaki, president of the Egyptian Actors Association and longtime friend of Selim, announced the news on social media. Many others paid tribute to Selim after seeing his post on Instagram. According to Zaki, Selim will be buried in the Sheikh Zayed area of Greater Cairo, where he once lived.
Hesham Selim caused by death
After a long struggle, Hesham Selim battled cancer. In May 2022, he was diagnosed with this disease. Selim confirmed his cancer diagnosis and said he was living in Ain Al Sokhna, a Red Sea resort on the outskirts of Cairo, during a television appearance at the time. When the news spread, Selim’s fans were worried for him and while he was being treated for his health problems, many were worried for his health and well-being.
In an interview two months ago, Zaki, his old friend, said that he has not contacted Selim. Selim then went on to participate in Al Tase’a, a national discussion program, and stated:
“Thank God I’m fine and everything will be fine.” And perhaps today, it is better to have cancer than to have Covid or any other infection that can kill in three days. Whatever God gives it, it’s wonderful and I’m fine right now.”
Hesham Selim’s career in the entertainment industry
Hesham Selim, born January 27, 1958, graduated from the College de la Sainte Famille. He later attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, as well as the Higher Academy of Tourism and Hospitality. Selim began his acting career in 1972 with the film Embratoreyyet Meem and had his first leading role in 1976 with Awdat Al Ibn Al Dhaal. For almost 50 years, he worked in film and television, starring in films and TV series such as Al Nazer, Enta Omri, Harb El Gawasis, Khaina Mashroaa, Leqaa ala el-hawa, Hoanem Garden City, Arabesque, Layaly Al Helmiya, El Raya El Beeda and others. In May 2020, he participated in a publicity program in Egypt advocating for LGBT+ rights and announced that he has a transgender son.
Hesham is the son of famous football player Saleh Selim. El Maestro is Saleh’s nickname because of the way he led Al Ahly football club to victory. He rose through the ranks of the club to the position of team manager and member of the club’s board of directors. Despite his prominence, little is known about Hesham’s career.

Hesham Selim’s work has become more and more popular over the years. As news of his death spread, Twitter was flooded with tributes. Hesham is survived by his wife Nadia Al Ghaleb and three children from a previous marriage to Mervat El Nahas.
