Hero Chiefs fans who confronted Super Bowl parade shooter speak out

Following the Kansas City Super Bowl parade incident, the couple of Chiefs fans who took down the parade shooter are speaking out about their quick-thinking actions.

Trey and Casey Filter, lifelong Chiefs fans from Wichita, Kansas, made headlines after instinctively stopping a suspected shooter at the parade by tackling them as they tried to flee the scene. Their brave actions were captured on video, which was posted on X.

During an interview with Chris Cuomo on his NewNation show, he spoke about the situation. “We just did what we felt we had to do at the time,” Casey explained. “I don’t think we could have just left standing there like that.”

Video from the Kansas City Chiefs parade showed Trey tackle the parade shooter and knock his gun out of his reach. Casey then moved the gun away from the scene. Casey said he immediately thought about getting the gun as far away as possible. “It was at my feet. And I just saw it and moved it, he said.

After seeing that their parents probably helped prevent further damage to the situation, the Filters’ children expressed pride. “They are very proud of their father,” Casey said of the children. Trey responded, “It’s really a lot to process and be grateful for.”

Alyssa Marsh-Contreras also said she witnessed her father, Paul Contreras, take down a suspected shooter at the Chiefs parade event.

“It all started as a celebration,” Marsh-Contreras said in banfield. “As soon as the celebration was over, we heard eight to ten pops. “Everyone assumed it was some kind of fireworks…until seconds later, we see several police officers chasing them.”

Suspected shooter approached by couple of three arrested in connection with Chiefs Parade incident

Meanwhile, CNN reported that the alleged shooter approached by the Filters is one of three suspects in the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs parade and celebration.

“Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves told reporters that so far there has been no motive for this situation. “We ask that those who may have any information, a witness or video, please contact police,” Graves said.

Paul Contreras also said he was missing another of the suspected shooters as they fled the crowd of Chiefs fans. The Kanas city police arrived at the scene and handcuffed the person, who was pinned to the ground.

The shooting occurred just after the Chiefs parade and rally ended. Chiefs players were leaving the stage when gunshots were heard. More than 20 parade attendees were injured and one person tragically died.
