Aila Musharraf or Aila Raza is a Pakistani woman who is known for being the daughter of former Pakistan Army Chief and President Pervez Musharraf. She is the Director of All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC), Karachi.

Aila Musharraf was born on Wednesday, 18 February 1970 (age 52 years; as in 2022). He was interested in classical music since childhood. He started studying architecture at Dawood Engineering College, Karachi. However, in the late 80s, when Karachi was plagued by student unrest, Aila relocated to Lahore and enrolled herself at the National College of Arts (NCA), where she studied Bachelor of Architecture. A student at NCA, she spent her college days participating in concerts organized by the All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC) and Lahore Music Forum. He also learned classical music during his college days. Born in a family of music lovers, she credits her inclination towards music to her grandparents. His grandfather Syed Musharraf played the tabla, while his grandmother Zareen Musharraf played the harmonium. Additionally, her father Pervez Musharraf likes ghazals, which she grew up listening to. After her marriage, she settled in Karachi, where she met Hayat Ahmed Khan (founder of APMC) at a dance function. During her meeting with Hayat, Ayala proposed the idea of organizing a concert in Karachi. She succeeded in convincing Hayat and the first concert was organized by APMC Karachi in 2004. While talking about the same in an interview he said,
Hayat Saheb was kind and encouraging. He introduced me to some classical music lovers in Karachi and also attended our inauguration ceremony in the city.”

He was born into a Muslim family, who were also Sayyid and claimed descent from the Prophet Muhammad. Aila Musharraf’s father, Pervez Musharraf, is a Pakistani politician and retired four-star general of the Pakistani Army, best known for leading the Kargil War against India in 1999. He served as the 10th President of Pakistan from 2001 until his appointment. Resigned in 2008 Aila’s mother’s name is Sehba Musharraf. His grandfather Syed Musharraf was in the foreign services. Aila’s younger brother, Bilal Musharraf, is a Pakistani actuary (chartered accountant) and an educationist.

Aila Musharraf is married to Pakistani film and TV commercial director and producer Asim Raza. Before venturing into film production and direction, Asim worked as an architect with the architectural firm Arshad Shahid Abdullah (PVT) Ltd. Aila Raza met Asim at Dawood Engineering College, Karachi, where both were studying architecture.

They have two daughters, Maryam Raza and Zainab Raza. Maryam Raza stepped into the entertainment industry as a director in 2021 with the music video of Taha Ji’s song Pyaar Da Meter. Meanwhile, Zainab Raza styled the artistes for the video.

Ayala started his career as an architect. However, he left his job in 2010. Since then, she has been actively working towards promoting traditional performing arts in a non-profit organization, All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC), Karachi. Earlier she was the General Secretary of APMC. Later she became a director.

Faced life threats from terrorist organizations
In July 2013, Aila Raza faced death threats in Karachi. Reportedly, intelligence agencies informed the Sindh government that banned terrorist organizations had prepared a plan to target Musharraf’s daughter in Karachi. His father, who had then returned from four years of self-imposed exile, faced similar threats from the Pakistani Taliban. At the time, he was under house arrest in his luxurious farmhouse on the outskirts of Islamabad. Pervez Musharraf was accused of plotting the assassination of two-time former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in December 2007 and plotting the assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti, a nationalist leader of Balochistan province, during a military operation in 2006.

- Aila is also a student of the classical music genre Khayal under the tutelage of Ustad Nasir-ud-din Sami of Qawwal Bacha/Dilli Gharana.
