Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Netflix that the third season was “the culmination of what we’ve been building all along” and hinted that the season would highlight the key belief that “family is worth fighting for.”

Henry agreed, noting that “there is a real threat” this time around and that Freya Allan’s character Ciri is in legitimate danger.

“It is genuine; It is no longer theoretical, it is practical. And it is very, very dangerous. They are walking into the lions’ den wherever they go,” he continued.

While her character Geralt has been “very nonchalant” in the past, the dangers for Ciri “change her whole perspective on things.”

Henry added that Geralt’s neutrality was “still very much intact”.

“Geralt has seen how politics works. A lot of it is incredibly selfish. No matter whose side someone is on, they are doing things for them. It’s like, ‘Why would I choose sides when the same thing is going to happen?’” he explained.

vol. 1 of the third season arrives on June 29 and vol. 2 follows on July 27. Watch a trailer for the third season of The magician.
