“Well, I called Stephen and talked to him about it. What he was trying to talk about is that he loved the show and was incredibly proud of it. We knew that [his comments] We were going to distract ourselves from the hard work that people were doing both at the WGA, of which I am a member, and at SAG-AFTRA. And I knew it immediately because I had been on the picket line. When I heard it and called him, I said, ‘Stephen, man, we all gotta stick together.’ He understood it right away,” Mike said. Entertainment Weekly.

He continued: “I think it was unfortunate timing; I really think he put his foot in his mouth. He felt bad about that. My initial reaction was like, ‘Oh, man, I know how this is going to go and I have to talk to him about it because I don’t think he intended for it to turn out the way it did.’ I think he was basically saying what a lot of people were saying, that they were frustrated about not being able to work. But I know where his heart is and his heart is next to his heart, like he said.”
