To obtain the frozen flames used to upgrade the Kratos Ax in God of War: Ragnarok, the player must find and extinguish many Hel Tears in various areas.

These Tears serve as a great typical combat event where players can practice their combat skills and Runic abilities while battling various Hel residents. However, one of the main reasons fans will be looking for every Hel Tear in God of War: Ragnarok is to get six frozen sparks. Once combined, these sparks form the Frozen Flame, a highly sought after weapon upgrade that improves on Kratos’ signature weapon, the Leviathan Tomahawk.
Players can encounter a total of six Hel Tears during their adventures with Kratos and Atreus God of War: Ragnarok. The first two Hel Tears that the player discovers cannot be ignored, as they are part of the main storyline. The first is at Sindri’s house, where Kratos learns about these tears and how to close them. The player will find a second teardrop in Helheim’s Glittering Bale, and Atreus is responsible for collecting this tear himself. Instead, the remaining four Tears of Haile are optional challenges.
