The article published by Caravan is irresponsible, baseless and completely false. I am talking to my lawyers and will take full legal action. I am extremely grateful for the support of my family, friends and audience.

Krishnan alleged that Sawant touched her inappropriately while he was traveling in a jeep with a group of journalists, The Caravan reported. Despite his discomfort, he persisted. Later that night, Krishnan claimed that Sawant had texted him expressing his desire to come to his room. Despite her refusal, Sawant entered her room and sexually assaulted her. Sawant reportedly left the room when she screamed. Krishnan told her boyfriend about the incident and he confirmed her statement. Sawant’s employer India Today issued a statement to NDTV on The Caravan’s article, saying that they could not comment or investigate the matter as Sawant was not with the organization at the time of the incident. He mentioned that he had requested Sawant to provide clarification. Gaurav Sawant files defamation notice against Vidya Krishnan and Caravan magazine.
