Fran Drescher re-elected SAG-AFTRA president amid strike

Fran Drescher isn’t going anywhere as president of SAG-AFTRA.

The 65-year-old actress was re-elected to the position by her peers while the strike continues.

According to Deadline, Fran won the election with 23,080 votes against independent candidate Maya Gilbert-Dunbar, who received only 5,276 votes.

In addition to Fran’s re-election, Joely Fisher will also return as the guild’s secretary-treasurer. She obtained 19,777 votes.

“I am honored to serve my union as president for another term,” Fran shared in a statement. “These are dynamic times and, as one member body, we will weather the storms, stand by our principles and ensure that our greatest contributions to this collaborative art form are never again diminished but rather exalted.”

He added: “I want all members to be equal in every way and I will continue to fight against marginalization and discrimination within our union, by our employers and the world at large.”

Recently, the union spoke out about the confusion over projects with provisional agreements and what they entail.
