Pastor Carl Lentz shared an update on social media about where his marriage stands versus that of FX. Hillsong’s Secrets documentary series, which will premiere on May 19.
Carl was fired from Hillsong Church in November 2020 after admitting he had been unfaithful in his marriage.
“For the past 3 years my entire focus has been fighting for my wife and kids, my family has been my only priority,” Carl said on Instagram. “To do that, the pursuit of sobriety and healing had to run parallel with those goals. Honestly nothing else mattered. None of the noise, the lies, none of the half-truths that were told about me or us mattered.”

He added that they are in a much better place than they are, “on May 5 they celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary” but “they had to do it in the purest way.”
Carl had been a pastor to several celebrities, including Justin and Hailey Bieber.
“Part of healing from that pain led us to make the decision to be a part of a documentary we don’t control, have no voice, and haven’t even seen yet. We’ll see when the world does,” Carl wrote.
In addition to his admission of infidelity, Carl was accused of sexually abusing his nanny in May 2021. Pastor Leona Kimes, who was on staff at his church, wrote: “While he never had sex with me and never kissed me, I was physically violated by his repeated unwanted sexual touching of my intimate areas. I froze. Every time, I would freeze.”

In 2021, Carl’s wife Laura took to Instagram to address the cheating scandal on their 18th wedding anniversary.
