Hip-hop stars Nelly and Ashanti announced that they are expecting a baby in 2023. The two stars were a hot couple in the early 2000s, but eventually broke up. But the two stars rekindled when rapper Fat Joe introduced Nelly during his Verzuz performance in 2020. After it was announced that the two were expected, Fat Joe called for major revenge.
“So the other day Ashanti FaceTimed me with Nelly,” she said during an Instagram Live session on January 20. “I immediately tell them that I need 10 percent of this kid because if it wasn’t for Verzuz when I put out Nelly, me against Ja Rule, that’s when they saw each other and that energy connected again.”
Fat Joe pays 50 cents for beef
2023 seemed to be the year to rekindle relationships. Fat Joe surprised everyone on Christmas Day at the New York Knicks game. He and his fellow rapper 50 Cent were sitting next to each other at Madison Square Garden.
It was surprising, given that the two artists had a bitter rivalry in the early 2000s. Former Knicks player Tim Thomas said the dispute caused a rift between him and his former Knicks teammate Stephon Marbury.
“Steph and I grew up together, we went to Five Star basketball camp. I knew her brothers, her mom, her dad. We played for Fat Joe with Terror Squad at the Rucker. There really wasn’t any problem between us until 50 and Fat Joe got involved. That’s when Steph and I broke up,” Thomas said in an interview with “Weekend Work” in 2023.
“We were actually teammates at that particular time. There were a lot of different things that happened between those three years of fighting. I remember Fat Joe on the court and Steph showing him love. And I look at them like, ‘Damn, I can’t go there and say what’s your turn?’”
Rapper reveals reason behind beef
50 Cent recently opened up about his past issues with Fat Joe. The “Get Rich or Die Tryin” rapper noted that his issues with Fat Joe were a result of his loyalty. Fellow rapper Ja Rule was one of several artists who feuded with 50 Cent during that time. So when Fat Joe recorded a song with Ja Rule’s record label, Murda Inc., the Queens rapper took it as a shot.
“Fat Joe, his problems, I saw him a little uncomfortable with the success he was having, and I interpreted it as, ‘He doesn’t like me,’ when in reality he is the type of person you want to be friends with because he is loyal to a default “, said.
“He is so loyal to a record that [Murder Inc.] “He made us enemies with him.”
