Coincidentally, he found an interview of Faiz Anwar in a newspaper and decided to contact him. Burman contacted Anwar and invited him to his home. During their meeting, Burman gave Anwar a music tape and asked him to write songs for it. At the same time, Anwar wrote the lyrics of the title track of the film ‘Tum Karo Vaada’ (1993) within 15-20 minutes. RD Burman was extremely impressed with Anwar’s talent and later chose him to write three songs for the film. This was Anwar’s debut film in the film industry. However, the release of the film ‘Tum Karo Vaada’ was postponed and it was released after Anwar’s earlier released song ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi’ (1991).
- In an interview, he talked about getting his first film ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi’. He said that when Mahesh Bhatt was working on the film ‘Aashiqui’ (1990) and he had composed the music for the last song of the film. Despite approaching several established lyricists, Mahesh Bhatt was unable to find a suitable lyricist. Then, he turned to Faiz Anwar and requested him to write the lyrics of the song. Anwar wrote the lyrics of the song ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi’ on the spot within 40 minutes. Bhatt was very impressed after listening to the song and he finalized this song as the last song of the film ‘Aashiqui’. However, due to some reason this song was removed from the film. Instead, it became the title track of another film ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi’ (1991).

It wasn’t stolen, but I sold my songs and sold them for a very good price. For one song I charged the equivalent of ten songs. If you ask for whom I did it, I won’t tell. I needed money and I cannot say that my helplessness was taken advantage of. I have no complaints.”
