Trans and non-binary people are more vulnerable today than ever, according to testimony before a NSW investigation into past LGBT hate crimes. This week, the special investigative committee is focusing on the legal, social and cultural issues that occurred around the time it was investigating suspected hate crimes in the country since 1970. until 2010.
Eloise Brook, a writer, activist and professor, stated at a public hearing in Sydney today that transgender people have been “washed away” by increased violence due to the emergence of transgender people. homosexuality in the 1980s and 1990s.

According to Dr Brook, only two names from Australia were included in the list, which does not represent the actual number.
In her testimony, she talked about how the “bureaucratic death penalty process” can be harmful because it prioritizes the protection of loved ones or loved ones of the deceased and removes gender diversity from any information the investigator may have.
