Elden Ring: Where to Find (& Farm) Root Resin

Quick Links

In Elden Ring Root Resin is a crafting material players may have a tough time finding. Root Resin is secreted from the roots of the Erdtree and materializes as a bright orange substance in grassy areas. Root Resin can be combined with items like Smoldering Butterflies and String to create consumable, powerful greases used to imbue weapons with powers. While it is not necessary to farm Root Resin in Elden Ring, doing so is immensely useful in the long run.

Players can find Root Resin located throughout several areas in the Lands Between. Firstly, the Nomadic Merchant in Elden Ring has ten units of Root Resin available to purchase for 50 runes each. Root Resin can also be found scattered around Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, Murkwater Catacombs, Stormfoot Catacombs, and Stormhill. Elden Ring’s Root Resin is all over, dotted along with the roots of trees throughout these areas.

Where to Farm Root Resin in Elden Ring

Players attempting to farm Root Resin in Elden Ring should head to the Site of Grace at the Warmaster’s Shack in the Stormhill region. The Warmaster’s Shack is located just to the west of Saintsbridge. Just like other methods of farming in Elden Ring, players must utilize the nearby Site of Grace.

The Warmaster’s Shack is one of the best places to farm Root Resin in Elden Ring, but it isn’t the only location players can pick from. To see another easy Root Resin farm that can also net you some Crystal Buds, check out the YouTube video from sciicers below:

Once players have activated the Site of Grace at the Warmaster’s Shack, head to the tree located directly in front of the Site of Grace. This tree usually has around three units of Root Resin around its base. Once players have collected the Root Resin, rest at the Site of Grace again to reset the world state. By simply doing this over and over, players can farm Root Resin in Elden Ring easily.

Each of these greases can be applied to a weapon to alter its attacks and add different elemental damage types. Greases are especially useful during the hardest boss battles in Elden Ring, but players should keep in mind that Drawstring Grease made from Root Resin in Elden Ring will not last as long as regular grease and will need to be reapplied sooner. However, the benefits of using Drawstring Grease in Elden Ring – the fact that it can be applied so quickly – means it is safer to use during boss fights.
