Eamonn Holmes previously worked for a Dublin-based business magazine before moving to radio. In 1979 he became presenter and reporter for the Farming Ulster show on Ulster Television. After that, he helps cover athletic events across the province. In 1982, he moved into news and current affairs reporting, hosting the main show Good Evening Ulster on Ulster Television. Eamonn was the third choice to host the show.
He presented a variety of Ulster Television programs including the Miss Northern Ireland Gala Pageant, alongside news and current affairs. He won the Hometown Radio Award with Ulster Television. Professional Life Homes also hosted ITV’s coverage of Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld at Wembley Conference Centre. On January 1, 1993, he started hosting the program on GMTV. Eamonn hosted the BBC’s National Lottery game show Jet Set from 2001 to 2007.
