He put forward some conditions for the marriage and Dr. Smita agreed to all of them. After their marriage, both of them moved to Melghat to provide medical aid to the villagers.

Facts/General Knowledge
- While working for the upliftment of tribals in the villages of Melghat, Dr. Smita Kolhe gave birth to her children. Dr. Ravindra, like other villagers, decided to deliver the child himself. Unfortunately, there were some complications at the birth of her first child, and Dr. Smita was given the option of moving to a better facility, but she chose to stay in the village. This helped him gain the trust and respect of the villagers.
- The doctor couple worked together and their sincere efforts helped reduce the infant mortality rate in the area from 200 per 1000 to 40 per 1000, and the pre-school mortality rate from 400 per 1000 to 100 per 1000.
- The couple often organize workshops and camps for the youth of the village and country. In these camps and workshops, they talk about various farming techniques, importance of farming and how the government offers some beneficial schemes for farming. The couple’s elder son, Rohit Kolhe, is a farmer, and their younger son, Ram Kolhe, is a doctor, and he wants to become a surgeon and help his parents in the village. The couple has been invited to many talk shows and programs.
- The State Public Works Department Minister contacted Dr. Smita Kolhe and she offered to build a house for the Kolhe family. Instead of a house, Dr. Smita asked him to improve the road connectivity of the village and because of him, now more than 70% of the village has proper road connectivity.
- Dr. Smita and Dr. Ravindra Kolhe were invited to be a part of the Karmaveer special episode of the show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ on 4 December 2020.
