Career
Dominik Meichtry represented his country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the competition, he swam the eighth-fastest time ever recorded in the 200 m freestyle. In the process, he defeated Michael Phelps, who perhaps had not been swimming to his best in the quarterfinals, to become the first Swiss swimmer to be the top seed heading into the semifinals.
He placed sixth in the 200 m freestyle final (Phelps won the race, swimming more than 2.5 seconds ahead of Meichtry). He was also the first Swiss to break the 49-second barrier by starting the 4×100 freestyle relay in 48.96 seconds. Later in the race, he lowered his record in the 100 freestyle to 48.55.

She earned her first international medal in December 2008 at the 2008 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Rijeka, Croatia. Additionally, she won silver in the 200 m freestyle, but missed the European title by 0.02 seconds.
He moved his training base to Southern California in the fall of 2009 to train with Dave Salo for the University of Southern California Trojan Swim Club.
