Doja Cat releases ‘Scarlet’ album, defends art and explains meaning of spider image

Doja Cat’s new album Scarlet is available now, and he took to Twitter just hours before its release to defend the artwork.

The 27-year-old singer put an image of two spiders on the album art and even wore a spiderweb outfit to the MTV VMAs earlier this month.

The new album includes the number one single “Paint the Town Red” along with songs like “Demons” and “Balut.”

Come in to read what Doja Cat had to say about the artwork…

“The art I chose for my album is beautiful and I really like it. The two spiders mean conquer your fear. None of my album covers had meaning until this album. Not accepting myself was a fear I used to have. “I don’t care about satisfying you anymore,” Doja said in response to someone who called the artwork “ugly.”

After someone told Doja not to react to an opinion, she said, “You don’t have to react to what random people say online because it’s just the opinion of a random person online that you don’t know.”

The art I chose for my album is beautiful and I really like it. The two spiders mean conquer your fear. None of my album covers had meaning until this album. Not accepting myself was a fear I used to have. I no longer care about satisfying you.
