Dinesh Bana was born on Wednesday, 15 December 2004 (age 17 years; as in 2021) in Dhansu village, Hisar, Haryana. Their zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He has been practicing at St. Sophia Sports Academy, Haryana since 2012 under the mentorship and training of coach Ranveer Jakhar. According to his coach, he practices for 8-9 hours to improve his wicketkeeping. Apart from cricket, Dinesh is also good in studies. He scored 85% marks in class 10th and is very good in studies.

Dinesh was good in studies so his father wanted him to become an engineer. However, Dinesh had a keen interest in cricket and wanted to pursue it more seriously. His father, who is also involved in sports, decided to support his son in his ambition. Dinesh joined St. Sophia Sports Academy, Haryana in 2012 and started practicing under his coach Ranveer Jakhar. He practiced for 8-9 hours with the sole aim of improving his wicketkeeping.

He has played Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy. He was selected for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2021. He represented the Haryana team and played with an average of 90. He played 5 innings and scored 3 fifties and holds the record for most fifties. He was selected in this also. Indian team for Under-19 Asia Cup 2021.

He caught the attention of the selectors during the Challenger Trophy. He played a total of 4 matches, in which he scored 255 runs. His best score was 170 runs off just 98 balls which included 14 sixes and 10 fours. Before the match, when his friend and colleague Nishant Sindhu told him about the selectors, Nishant replied,

You just count to six for me today.”

However, it turned out that Dinesh was never the selectors’ first choice as the team already had Aaradhya Yadav for wicketkeeping.

Dinesh Bana was never the first choice keeper. During India B vs India F in the Challengers Trophy, his friend Nishant Sindhu told him, ‘Today the selectors are going to come. Bana replied, “You just count six for me today.” Bana scored 170 runs in 98 balls, which included 10 fours and 14 sixes.

In the semi-final against Australia, Dinesh gave a short but brilliant performance in which he batted fiercely at a strike rate of 500. He made a record of being the first player in the world to score 20 runs in 4 balls which included 2 sixes and 2 fours. The cricketer has to score runs only from boundaries by playing 4 or more balls in any category of men’s or women’s or under-19 cricket.

In the Under-19 World Cup final against England, India was chasing the target of 190 runs and needed 12 runs in 3 overs with 4 wickets remaining. Nishant Sindhu hit a four and then took a run while giving strike to Dinesh Bana. Bana hit a six off the ball of fast bowler James Sales. He hit another six over long-on on a full toss as India won the Under-19 World Cup 2022. He remained unbeaten after scoring 13 runs on 5 balls and took 4 catches.

Ending the match with a six, especially winning the team the World Cup trophy, reminds fans of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s winning six at the Wankhede Stadium in the World Cup 2011. Dinesh’s father arranged a big screen in front of their house in Sector 14, Hisar, for his family and neighbors to watch him play. After the historic victory, his family celebrated by distributing fireworks and sweets. The next day, Dinesh’s family, neighbors and his academy friends played Holi with gulal and danced to the beats of dhol.

His father said that he is very happy and proud of his son and is sure that his son will continue to bring glory to the family. His sister Nitika said,
