Dia Mirza was born as ‘Diya Handrich’ on Wednesday, 9 December 1981 (age 39 years; as in 2020) in Hyderabad city, Andhra Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius.
He did his schooling from Vidyaranya High School, Hyderabad and Nasr School, Hyderabad. She also studied at Stanley Girls High School, Hyderabad. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad.

Dia Mirza was born to Frank Handrich, a Munich-based German Catholic and graphics and industrial fair designer, architect, artist and interior designer, and Deepa, a Bengali interior designer and landscaper.
Her parents divorced when she was four and a half years old. His mother Deepa married Ahmed Mirza (died 2003), a Southern Muslim man from Hyderabad. He took his stepfather’s surname. He is the only child of his parents.
Although she was brought up in different castes, she still practices Hinduism.

While studying in school, Dia Mirza worked as a marketing executive for a multimedia firm called Neeraj Multi-Media Studio. Along with this she worked as a model for brands like Lipton, Walls Ice Cream and Emami. In 2000, she participated in Femina Miss India, where she won the titles of Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Avon and Miss Close-up Smile and was also the second runner up in the competition.

- During the ongoing CAA protests in India in 2019, Dia Mirza expressed her views on this topic and said,
