Derek Hough thought his friendship with Jennifer Lopez was over after he accidentally did something to her that could have ended very badly.
The two stars worked together on the NBC reality competition series. dance world. They were on the judging panel for all four seasons of the series, which ended in 2020.
Derek explained during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show This week he thought he had lost Jennifer as a friend forever after a mishap while they were dancing together.

“There have been times when things didn’t go well,” Derek said. “There was a time I went salsa dancing with Jennifer Lopez. We’re dancing and we’re having a good night, we’re sweating, the live band is playing, it’s steamy, it’s going great. She dunked her, stepped on her hair and lifted her up, but her hair didn’t come back up.”
“But she didn’t miss a beat…she took care of him and I had no idea! I had no idea what happened. Then later at night she says, ‘Do you know what you did?’ I was like, ‘Show him the best time of your life, what’s up?’ And she says, ‘No, you ripped my hair out!’ She had a piece of that. I was like, ‘I’m so sorry, oh no!'” Derek said. “And then the next day she said, ‘Hey, do you want to do a project with me?’ I thought, ‘Great, because I thought our friendship was over!’”
