While watching this year’s big event, Hall took to his Facebook account to criticize Koy. “Golden Globes host Jo Koy is a complete embarrassment to himself and the Academy,” she wrote. “Skip it.”
Deidre Hall is one of many viewers who weren’t entirely satisfied with Koy’s performance as a Golden Globes host. During her opening monologue, the comedian poked fun at several celebrities, including Taylor Swift. “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” she declared.
The camera then showed Swift looking at the host while taking a sip of her drink. Even though her prank fell flat a bit, Koy defended the hit. “Oh, man, that was so cute,” she said. Entertainment tonight. “I was just saying there are fewer cuts, that’s all.”
However, while chatting with Good morning americaKoy admitted that Swift’s joke fell a little flat. “It was a weird joke, I guess. But it was more about the NFL…. I was trying to make fun of the NFL using cutouts and how the Globes didn’t have to do that. So it was more of a knock towards the NFL. But things just didn’t work out that way.”

Along with Deidra Hall, a source close to Taylor Swift criticized Jo Koy for her joke about the pop icon during the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 7.
“Taylor nor her daughters found Jo Koy’s vulgar jab very funny,” a source told DailyMail. “Clearly neither did the public or his fans. She made her feel uncomfortable as would have happened to anyone.”
The source further noted that at the end of the day, Koy’s entire performance was the real joke. “You have to know who the audience is before you come for them. Taylor just bit her tongue.”
The source also said Swift is above it all and won’t comment on the joke. “She doesn’t have time to talk back to anyone, nor does she want to,” they continued. “She can’t say the same for Travis, who might have a few words on her podcast about this.”
Neither Swift nor Kelce have mentioned the joke publicly.
