Darius Campbell Danesh Passed Away At The Age Of 41

Darius Campbell-Danesh, Scottish singer-songwriter, died on 11 August aged 41. He was found unconscious and unresponsive at his Rochester estate. His death was revealed in an official statement by his family, which read:

“We regret to inform you of the death of Darius Campbell Danesh.” On August 11, Darius was found comatose in bed in his room in Rochester, Minnesota and was pronounced dead that afternoon by the local coroner.

The statement said that although local police had ruled out foul play, medical examinations to determine the cause of death were still underway. Darius Campbell-Danesh rose to fame after appearing in the British talent competition Popstars in 2001. A year later, he was a finalist for another similar show called Pop Idol, where he turned down a recording contract with Simon Cowell to collaborate with producer Steve Lillywhite.

Campbell-Danesh made his professional debut as a non-singer in The Trojans in 1990. He also appeared at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. In July 2002, he released his debut single, Colourblind, after appearing in reality music talent contests such as Popstars and Pop Idol. In 2004, he released his first album Dive In. Not only did he write all the songs on this album, but he also produced one of the songs, Better Than That. He later published the novel Sink or Swim. The book is the Sunday Times’ sixth bestseller on various aspects of the music business. Dairius also collaborated with Coldplay and Oasis on the charity album War Child. Live Twice, his second album, was released in October 2004, and the title track has become one of his most popular songs.

At the age of 25, he took on the role of Billy Flynn on Broadway, playing Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls. In 2008, he played Rhett Butler in Sir Trevor Nunn’s musical Gone With the Wind. Darius was the winner of the Popstar to Operastar talent show in 2010. That same year, he made his opera debut with Carmen and starred in the tour The History of the Big Bands. He landed the lead role in the musical From Here to Eternity in July 2013. He appeared in Funny Girl at the Savoy Theater two years later in 2015.

Dario is survived by his family members, whose identity is unknown. He married actress Natasha Henstridge in February 2011 and divorced in 2018.
