Dan Schneider Sues ‘Quiet on Set’ Producers for Defamation, Calls Doc a ‘Hit Job’

Dan Schneider is taking the Silence on set producers to court less than two months after the explosive documentary’s debut.

The documentary series explored the abusive environment that child actors experienced on various Nickelodeon sets. Schneider produced several Nickelodeon shows, including Amanda’s Show, Zoey 101, and Drake and Josh. In the docuseries, former child stars accused him of toxic workplace behavior. It was a key theme in the series.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Dan Schneider and his legal team are going after the Silence on set producers. They are also suing the creators of the documentary series, Warner Bros. Discovery, Maxine Productions and Sony Pictures Television. He claims the docuseries showed him in a bad light.

Schneider’s lawyers describe Silence on set as a “hit job” that used manipulative editing technology to create a false narrative about the former producer. The editing was noted in the trailer for the docuseries. It implied that Schneider’s tenure at Nickelodeon was the “darkest” time in the network’s history.

The producer’s legal team also claimed that the trailer implied that he committed crimes against children.

The legal team further noted that producers had put Dan Schneider in the same category as two convicted child sex offenders. Both had worked on several Nickelodeon shows. One of the sexual abusers was Brian Peck, who worked on some of Schneider’s hit Nickelodeon shows.. He was convicted of sexually abusing a child in 2004.

Dan Schneider further stated in his lawsuit that the Silence on set The producers made the docu-series to get “clickbait, ratings and views, or just plain money.”

To do so, they falsely implied that he was involved in sexual abuse. “I have no problem with anyone highlighting my failures as a boss,” he added. “But it is wrong to mislead millions of people into the false conclusion that I was in any way involved in heinous acts like those committed by child predators.”

Schneider sues for defamation. He seeks compensation for non-specific damages. Furthermore, he claims that the documentary series caused mental anguish and financial loss.

Schneider was with Nickelodeon from 1994 to 2019. After facing numerous allegations of inappropriate behavior and other misconduct, Schneider and the network parted ways. After Silence on setAt the premiere, he apologized for his behavior on set.
